In the digital context in which education should be developed and based on the teacher's initial training needs that the health emergency resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic has become more evident, it is necessary to incorporate Teacher Digital Competence into all training programs in order to ensure its development and be able to certify its level of development. Although much has been said about the CDD of the teacher of Child and Primary Education, the same attention has not been paid to the training of secondary school teachers. That is where this project is centred.
This proposal is based on the need to evaluate and certify the CDD of students of the Master of Teacher Training at the level of the Catalan university system all the Catalan universities that we offer the Master. In this objective we have formed this consortium/group, in which all universities participate without exception, in order to study thematics, make common decisions and implement actions in the same way.
This project is not starting from zero. It takes advantage of the expertise in this subject developed over the years by the ARGET research group participating in various national and international projects and having high-impact publications with regard to the CDD evaluation. This will encourage the results and proposals of the project to be contrasted and validated throughout the system and the proposals to be transferable to all universities.

Support programs

General Objective:

Design and validate a system a proposal for certification of the digital competence teaching for the secondary education faculty in initial training for the Catalan universities.

Specific objectives:

  • OE1. Adapt and validate the Competent Digital COMDID-C for MFPS students.
  • OE2. Analyze MFFS study plans, make proposals on how to incorporate CDD development and implement them in training plans and validate them.
  • OE3. Design with the University's ICE's a modular proposal for CDD development training addressed to Masters Teacher
  • OE4. Make a pilot to evaluate the MFPS student CDD.
  • OE5. Design a CDD certification process for students finishing MFPS in the Catalan university system.

This project, with the aim of designing and validating a system, has selected as a methodology, the Educational Design Research (EDR) or Education-based Research (Van den Akker et al., 2006) for its suitability and convenience. This is understood as a systematic process of analysis, design, development and evaluation of an intervention (a formative program, a product, or a process) as a solution to a complex educational problem (Plomp and Nieveen, 2009).
The EDR is a mixed methodology, combining the use of quantitative and qualitative tools and instruments that stands out for its dynamics despite having a plan with previously made decisions and others that are determined during the process.

Data collection instruments:

  • C-COMDID for high school teacher training master (MFPS) students
  • Evaluation rubric that will allow you to analyse the contents, activities and evaluation criteria of the subjects that are part of the MFF in relation to the development of the CDD.
