Envision European network for virtual simulation online

2020-1-BE02-KA226-HE-083100

2021 - 2023

ENVISION is a European Erasmus + project that began in March 2021 and has a two-year duration through which a virtual simulation game will be developed that can be played online or used as a complementary teaching tool to the sessions of face-to-face classical simulation.

Virtual simulations make use of standardized patients who, through video clips, represent realistic events. The scenario incorporates multiple decision points where students are challenged about their clinical skills and soft skills.

The project takes into account all the active ingredients of simulation education. In these two years, two simulations or virtual simulation games will be developed, the second of which will be led by researchers from the URV's nursing department - who belong to the Advanced Nursing (CARING) research group - where there is a simulation classroom endowed with the newest technologies that allows to reproduce real situations between professionals and patients. In addition, the resulting pedagogical guidelines and guides will be directed by the URV's Pedagogy Department through the ARGET research group.

Support programs

This European project is a Knowledge Alliance and has four specific objectives:

  • SO1. First care-based simulation for geriatric patients.
  • SO2. Second simulation, led by the URV, and whose context is the pediatric speciality.
  • SO3. Creation of technological solutions in H5P for the design and development of this type of online simulations.
  • SO4. Development of two pedagogical guides to help both students and teachers use existing games and develop new ones, according to their learning needs.

The methodology of this project is collaborative, of co-creation between the different partners, and with an iterative or phased design perspective. The Arget research group will carry out the pedagogical validation of the project so that teachers, in the future, can create games of different disciplines based on the methodology that arises from the project. The researchers from the Nursing Department will develop content related to the specific field of health care.
